Blogger

We used Blogger for two different blogs. This Progress Blog was our first blog and for most of us it was the first time blogging. Setting up the blog, we had some difficulties. It took rather long to make everyone an editor. When we were all editors, we expected to be notified if a new blog entry is posted. However, one has to set up notifications differently and only one editor can get notifications via Email. Everyone else had to follow the blog via Email like a regular follower.
However, once the Blog was set up, we really appreciated the way it allows us to communicate, comment on posts, change posts by others and share our prezis. In addition to that, posting something-and possibly sharing it with the world- is really easy and self-explanatory. These are some of the reasons why we used blogger for our public OldtoGold page as well.
With this page we reached a lot of people without having to go trough the trouble of setting up an actual website.

Facebook

We use facebook for the purpose of publishing and spreading our blog posts because we think we can reach a large audience with it. Also most of our friends are on facebook and we want to encourage them to "spread the word", too.

So for reaching many people, we put up a seperate facebook account, a fan page, that people can like. Then we started linking our blog posts to it and shared these posts on our personal facebook pages, so that our friends can see what we are doing. On this Old to Gold facebook page we encourage people to reuse things and also post smaller entries that are not connected with the blog.

So far, I think it is a great success. The statistics on facebook show that we reach almost 900 people from all over the world per week! We also get some nice comments and even one contribution with a new idea was sent to us. We all did not expect so many responses and likes and we are very much encouraged to continue our project.

By now, every member of our group is familiar with the facebook page's settings and can link our blog entries, although this was an issue at first that we had to work out.

So all in all, facebook is a great tool to reach many people all over the world and keep them informed about our project and its progress.

INSPIRATION studs here studs there studs everywhere

Hi guys,
I made a little something expanding the idea of Christin's post about the studs... More than a stepbystep which she already made I thought of some inspiration through pictures... What do you think? Feel free to change the things in the text or correct errors :-)

p.s. Sorry but I still have to figure out how to arrange picture in a more appealing way...

Hi dear readers,
by walking down the streets of the cities where you live you probably have noticed the great amount of accessories or clothes embellished with studs!
It is indeed a trend which has developed throughout the last few months or even years among us fashion lovers! So nowadays not only punks use them as a sign of expressing themselves through their way of clothing (NOTE: I don't know if this is accurate or right to say?!?!) , but people who want to give their outfit an interesting accent use them to "pimp up" their style!
Shoes, sweaters, t-shirts, jeans, boots and even purses with studs can be seen all over the stores at the moment!
Christin already gave us an option of how to do a studded piece of cloth by yourself HERE. But have you thought about other options or tried it out on another garment? There are a great variety of studs.
All you need are the same implements Christin used, if you don't have a belt such as Christin's you can easily acquire  them for a very good price on ebay!

We want to give you a little inspiration with this post… What do you think about this "trend"? And which idea would you like to try out if you could?

We are thrilled to read your responses and maybe even suggestions for other items!

Kristina used studs to embellish her 2-year old leather jacket. Do you like it? (leather jacket via
H&M & thanks for her contributing with the second picture!!!)

Do you have an old pair of shoes? It is so simple and you can create an individual look by deciding how to place the studs! (shoes via Vans)

Milena had the idea to give her pullover a more glaring look and added other studs to the already existing ones. (Pullover via Primark)

If you have a rather simple cap you can give it your personal touch with some studs!

As you can see there are so many ways of embellishing and giving things your own things with the help of studs!

cut jeans project

Hey Ladies!

The next project is going to be the cut jeans project we talked about in class I think?

We need someone to cut their jeans so we have before - after pictures.
Everyone who has cut their jeans sometime, we can use these pictures aswell.

Who has crafted a Handbag or something from a cut jeans?

I think we should get going now, our last post was on Jan. 8th!!!

Paint it black!

...or any other colour you like!

To add some fresh stuff to my closet, I sometimes just dye my old clothes in a different colour.
This is a very simple and cheap method as I discovered!
I used this dye for fabric in black for about 2,80€ which I got at a regular drugstore :
...and I could dye these two pieces with it:

(They were light grey and beige before)

You need a washing machine for this; The detailed instruction manual is included in the simplicol package, but I assure you, it is simple and it works ;)

Now you try it yourself!

Your creative minds
